Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Supports Children in Apache and Navajo Counties through the White Mountain Clothe-A-Child Program
Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona (BCBSAZ) is proud to support the White Mountain Clothe-A-Child organization with essential funding for its back-to-school program. A special event will be held August 23, 2014, to provide new clothes to 180 children in need. This impactful contribution is part of BCBSAZ’s 75th anniversary statewide outreach effort that puts “Arizonans First. Always.”
“We are proud to continue our statewide outreach campaign in Apache and Navajo Counties and support such a worthwhile cause,” said Rich Boals, president and CEO of BCBSAZ. “It is an honor to provide essential clothing and supplies to children in need during this back-to-school season, so they can focus on what is truly important – their education.”
White Mountain Clothe-A-Child (WMCAC) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that provides clothing to children in Apache and Navajo Counties. WMCAC receives donations from local businesses and partners with Kmart to provide more than 150 children with warm clothes during the month of December each year. However, due to a lack of funding, the WMCAC back-to-school program had been discontinued. This year, thanks to the support of BCBSAZ, the WMCAC back-to-school program will clothe 180 children chosen by Apache and Navajo County school teachers.
"I've been approached several times by Apache and Navajo County school officials about the need to restore a back-to-school Clothe-A-Child program,” said Jack Wade, Clothe-A-Child President. “In the past we have not had the funding to do so, but now, thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona’s donation, we will be able to help even more children in need this year."
The BCBSAZ statewide corporate outreach campaign has already visited Pima, Maricopa, Santa Cruz, Cochise, Greenlee and Graham Counties. Following Apache and Navajo Counties, BCBSAZ will visit La Paz and Mojave Counties. To learn more about BCBSAZ and its 75 years in Arizona, visit azblue.com/birthday.
