Edmundo Hidalgo Joins Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Board of Directors
Prominent community leader, Edmundo Hidalgo, joins the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) Board of Directors. Hidalgo currently serves as vice president of outreach and partnerships within ASU’s Educational Outreach & Student Services.
Previously, and most notably, Hidalgo served as president and chief executive officer of Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) from 1999 to 2008. Prior to being appointed CEO, he served as CPLC’s chief operations officer. Hidalgo is widely known for growing CPLC into an influential advocate for social and economic development, particularly in low-income Latino communities.
“Edmundo’s appointment to the BCBSAZ Board of Directors further increases the diversity of our thinking,” said Rich Boals, BCBSAZ’s president and CEO. “His distinguished career in serving Arizona’s Latino communities brings an abundance of fresh insights and ideas that is needed with the changing dynamic of the marketplace.”
Hidalgo’s other accomplishments include: 2016 Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, Hispanic Business Magazine’s top influential Hispanics in the country in 2014 and Maricopa County Community Colleges 2013 HERO of Education. He is an Arizona native and earned his MBA from Arizona State University.
