Member News: Ebola Statement

Member News: Ebola StatementBlue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) has been monitoring the Ebola situation closely. In all circumstances, especially one like this, our members are our number one priority. It’s important to know the diagnosis and treatments related to Ebola are covered under BCBSAZ benefit plans to the same extent as other life-threatening infections. There are no additional benefit restrictions specifically for Ebola treatment. If you have any questions about your benefits, please call BCBSAZ Customer Service at (602) 864-4400 (Maricopa County), (520) 745-1883 (Pima County), or (800) 232-2345 (statewide).

We encourage you to visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website at http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/index.html for the most up-to-date information about Ebola. There you will find details about how the Ebola virus spreads. You will learn it is not transmitted through the air or by water, but, rather through direct contact with blood or body fluids of a person who is sick with Ebola, objects (like needles and syringes) that have been contaminated by the virus, or infected animals.

We will also update azblue.com as new information becomes available, so please check back regularly.
